What It Is
The Foundation focuses on business.
Because it funds most everything else, business’ shift toward decency would mean that every other key sector – intent on maintaining its flow of funds – would move in that direction as well. Change business and the world will change with it.
The Foundation’s mission: To demonstrate that profitability and decency – far from being at odds – can coexist and reinforce one another.
What It Does
Nu.Ag – the Foundation’s inaugural project – provides long term, below market loans to small farmers. The goal: To empower them to increase their economic viability and, at the same, produce healthier food; be more decent in their treatment of workers, animals, and the environment; and more fully commit to their local communities. Integral to its work is Nu, a metric it has developed to assess and then improve and expand the ethical practices of the businesses with which it works – beginning with its client farmers.
